California divorce forms:
FL-100 File for Divorce for a CoupleSadly, over 50% of marriages fail. To add insult to injury, divorce proceedings can take years and cost thousands of dollars in legal fees. However, it is possible to file your own divorce in California for no more than the state divorce form filing fees. This page provides all of the forms you need to initiate your do-it-yourself divorce in California.
If you need more detailed instructions click here http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/fl107info.pdf. Note: The PDF reader for Google Chrome does NOT work with this website. You must start by filing a Petition – Marriage/Domestic Partnership, a Summons, and if there are any minor children in the marriage or domestic partnership then a Declaration Under Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act form must also be filed. Next someone 18 years of age or older other than the one who filed for Divorce or for Domestic Partnership Dissolution (ending the Domestic Partnership) has to deliver all of the forms you just filed to your spouse or domestic partner and a blank Response-Marriage/Domestic Partnership form and this individual must all submit a Proof of Service of Summons to the Court so that the Court knows when and how the spouse or domestic partner was served.
Within 60 days of filing the petition you must fill out the Declaration of Disclosure, Income and Expense Declaration, and either the Schedule of Assets and Debts form or Property Declaration form and have someone serve these documents to your spouse or domestic partner. Your spouse or domestic partner can then file a Response. The Divorce or ending of the domestic partnership is final when the Judgment form is completed or both you and your spouse have gone to Court to resolve any issues you have. This depends on the case and you should look at the earlier linked form to determine what case you have.
